We need to hit town, stock up, rest, and then high tail it to Oregon. Keep it Filling for food, hunt if needed but set the oxen to overdrive[DOUBLEPOST=1452126038,1452125923][/DOUBLEPOST]Meanwhile I'm going to go jump in the nearest creek and hopefully it's freezing enough so I get hypothermia and drown at the same time

Keep going.

Might as well make it to the next landmark if we can.

God damn it.

Now we HAVE to stay still or RU will pretend to be dead. And we'll bury him not knowing better.

Stay put for a couple days then keep moving. Hunt if necessary.

If we take the toll road, it's another hundred miles of travel before we reach our destination. If we take the river, you'll be betting your lives on my rafting skills to get us there quicker. What is your final decision?

so here's the thing about our path differences

while the danger is said to lie on the river, consider the options. Time is ever flowing and ever punishing, to linger on the line of time before achieving our goals will give it more time to ravage us, always seeking to keep up us from our destinations. Eventually time gives up but in the mean time we have to deal with other forces around us. Let us consider which one of these paths has time actively trying to kill us. While the shorter path seems more dangerous because we are approaching winter and our health and moral are at an all time low thanks to Val being the worst person ever so we are tempted for the shorter path, let us examine that. We know it's dangerous, in fact maybe we want to consider resting and then heading the extra road in the hopes that our path will be uneventful and our pacing will hit us in Oregon just in time to set up shelter for the harsh winter. But let us look at a different approach, we are suffering in health, and although we haven't lost anybody we're doomed to probably lose two people at this point. Meanwhile the river guarantees we'll probably lose somebody but we'll get there much sooner, and even though we'll lose plenty of food and extra supplies it's very likely not enough so we can repair the wagon and hunt on the outskirts. Now in this case, we need to skin my cute panda body in order to create durable, warm coats for everybody except I'm not that big, maybe a pair of mittens for everyone. That may be enough to grasp the oars and keep our raft floating in order to reach Oregon. Now consider the forces of nature here, we are at the season where the rapids cool down, both literally and figuratively, the risk of capsizing diminishes greatly because of that. Also judging by the alignment of the moon and stars, the tides have waned for many weeks now, allowing us one brief moment to take advantage of the currents in order to sail down smoothly, while also taking advantage of height and distance.

So I don't care, I'm going to go find a bear and initiate myself in their den instead because if I have to listen to Val rant on and on about how Milton Berle was a genius ahead of his time one more time I am going to ascend unto the heavens and unleash my final form, sending forth a wave of destruction and holy vengeance. My seven eyes will weep with sorrow as I crush humanity underfoot, and my three mouths shall hum the song that ends time and space.

I always took the river, and like Loot said we're losing people if this keeps up.

So take the river.

I was going to ignore whatever you guys suggested and go with the raft anyway. It's too much fun to pass up.

Image

This isn't so hard. Why would anyone want to take the toll road?

Image

Whoops.

Image

We've made it to the promised land! Hooray for our leader Val!

Image

Ehh, not too bad for a bunch of losers like us. I look forward to founding a beautiful civilization in Oregon with my two remaining wives.
