'Walden' is interesting, but I don't know that I'm enjoying it. Like, I've got other books lined up that I think I'd rather be reading.

...alright, 'Walden' friggin sucks and is boring. Like, I read books fifteen minutes at a time at my store in order to energise myself--------'Walden' just exudes smugness and irritates me, and I'm so sick of it I could puke coat-hangers. How is this garbagey masturbatory crap meant to hype me up?

Screw 'Walden'. I just got 'The Last Unicorn---The Lost Journey', Pete Beagle's first draft of 'The Last Unicorn'. I actually want to read this, man. I'm super psyched.

I read often... I just forget to keep track of the books I've read.

Let me know how The Last Unicorn is, Boo!! :D
She lives in the clouds and talks to the birds...

I'm enjoying it so far. It's similar to the proper book, naturally, but certain things are different. In the proper book, the Unicorn learns she is the last from two hunters who venture into her wood--------in this version, she learns it from a sad dragon after challenging it to single combat.

I hope this version has Molly Grue, but I'd understand if it didn't. I mean, Peter S Beagle wrote it when he was twenty, and I kind of get the feeling that writing a Molly Grue requires some bitter life experience.

Finished 'The Last Unicorn----The Lost Journey'. It wasn't long. Just a fragment, actually----------it's clear Pete Beagle set it aside at about the one-quarter mark. It's interesting to see what might have been, but I think the story is far better for having Schmendrick and Molly Grue, Haggard and Lir in. Mommy Fortuna and Rukh. Captain Cully and Jack Jingly.

I mean, I like a 'what might have been' same as the next man, but if 'The Lost Journey' were the real book, there probably never would have been a movie. Certainly never would have been a 'Two Hearts'. Deal-breakers.

So I'm reading 'Norstrilia'. It's kind of the t-bone around which 'The Rediscovery of Man' was the mashed potatoes and green beans and salad and bread and all, right.

The protagonist just manipulated the stock market to become so rich he bought the planet Earth in its entirety, and then barely survived the attack of a giant mutant sparrow sent by an evil telepath. To murder him.

It's far, far less retarded than I'm sure I just made it sound.
