So, bump.

I haven't played 'Super Mario Odyssey' at all, but I've seen some footage, and I'm pleased to see Pauline in there. They could very easily have forgotten about her entirely, right, but there she is, in a significant role. I like that.
I haven't finished this game but from what I've seen and feel, especially after hearing the lyrics to Jump Up Superstar, I have this head canon where like Mario realizes Pauline still harbors feelings for him and so in the end he gets back with her and Luigi gets with Princess Peach, who ends up finding Luigi's shyness much more endearing.

And I guess Daisy gets thrown to Wario while Waluigi cries himself to sleep?

Too bad Pauline, Peach, and Rosalina are basically the same character.

It's time for Donkey Kong Junior to return. He would return as the older, jaded Fedora Kong, and become Mario's rival in Super Mario Odyssey 2: Also sprach Zarathustra. Just imagine the pure pathos this storyline could bring to the Mario mythos.
Donkey Kong Jr has been back all this time. The original Donkey Kong is actually Cranky Kong in the DKC games...so it's a grown up Jr who is actually in the role of Donkey Kong in those games.

I would just like to take this moment to appreciate the sheer personality of the menu text in Tales of Zestiria. Most notably all the enemy book entries that are written in-character for MULTIPLE party members. That is a **LOT** of personalized menu text, and I am grateful for it.

There's actually some debate on that. I think. Last time I checked it was kind of unclear still.

in Breath of the Wild, having a metal melee weapon, bow, or shield equipped while in a lightning storm will cause you to get struck by lightning and having something wooden equipped in hot areas will cause them to catch on fire, but clothes made of metal or wood don't cause those since some of those clothes are necessary to survive certain areas without a time limit

That charge jump in Spiderman 2 though. Super jumps made that game.

currently a popular theory is that cranky kong is actually the current dk's grandfather, and donkey kong jr. is his deadbeat dad, so cranky raised dk as his own, which explains why he's sometimes referred to as his father.

Dr. Light is a bad dad because he said he built X to live among humans in peaceful times and then he made him out of guns and locked him away for decades.

....Speaking of the actual topic of this thread, I have a serious appreciation for the sprite art in MMX. The little victory pose he strikes after beating a boss is adorable. All of the animations are really endearing tbh

The gap between Mega Man classic and X has been another hot topic of debate.

The classic Sonic games have tons of little animations that give the characters a lot of uniqueness and charm. This one (that appears on the continue screen in 2) is my favorite.
