Old/forgotten series you'd like to see make a comeback.

Post by VG_Addict » Fri Sep 01, 2017 7:26 pm

There are a lot of old game series that haven't had a new entry in years.

Personally, I want an Ape Escape 4. The first Ape Escape on PS1 was one of my favorite games as a kid.

2D Castlevania, 2D Metroid, classic Heroes of Might and Magic, what do I know. (I probably wouldn't play any of those though, 'cause all I grab nowadays is indie games).

Good thing Nintendo is finally making a "2.5D" Metroid title soon.

honestly? pretty much every game series i ever cared about has had some sort of revival in the past several years. some more successful than others.

i'd still like to see a sonic battle sequel eventually though

A proper TMNT arcade-style game. Not this junk that's just wearing the franchise, but one of the quality of the originals.

And I'm still pretty psyched for it, even though it's a remake.

F-Zero.
F-Zero's main entries were all stellar. Hard to believe there's only been 3 mainline games. It's the sort of thing that screams for a 3DS port, but what do I know? Hell, I have two iterations of the last FAST Racing and one of them's on Switch, that's pretty close to a win.

So castlevania is completely dead at this point, right?
Megaman X is a great series but it should have ended awhile ago, specifically at X5. Classic Megaman would be cool with a proper, not 8-bit modern title. Mr gimmick would make a cool comeback though I doubt enough people care for one.

F-Zero GX is 14 years old. FOURTEEN. Nintendo, pls. What are you doing?

And I may be a broken record, but every time this topic pops up I have to mention Golden Sun.

Summon Night: Swordcraft Story (the main games are still going, but have almost nothing to do with those spinoffs)
Star Wars: X-Wing and a proper Knights of the Old Republic
Dragon's Dogma (they made a Japan-only MMO, so technically this is a series)

That's all I can come up with. Most of the forgotten games I'd like to see more of are one-offs.

I want a solid, new metal slug game. Advance showed a lot of promise, I thought they would keep innovating with that formula. Then 7 dropped all those innovations, and then nothing.

I miss the Jedi Knight series. That was the bomb. All those fun mods. There's still a community, like incredibly niche, that plays Jedi Knight/Jedi Academy and makes mods for them.

Playing Wario Land 2 makes me yearn for a new entry.
