Alright, let's do something really interesting.

And before you go hog wild on the long reaching effects on the series, this is before all of that. So stick to the first game or at the very least connect your grievances to it.

1. The lock-on feature makes fighting big enemies confusing, which is funny because the first big boss doesn't have that problem as you target its hands. Not so for everyone else it seems.

wait, I thought this thread was criticisms of good games

2. The controls are terrible and make any attempt at spellcasting/item usage cumbersome and barely even worth it.

3. It's not as bad as in later games, but this still feels like Square took some 12-year-old's self-insert crossover fanfic and made it into a video game.

^^ Disagree to an extent. Spellcasting's fine. Items are a pain in the butt.

4. Monstro's maze is a utter PAIN (though thankfully short). >:(

5. The game will occasionally give you extra party members to replace Donald and Goofy and they provide a bit of spice to your team for the worlds they're on. But don't use them if you want to get all the Trinity Points! Especially since you can miss some of them forever and you'll get no warning on which ones they are.

6. Goood God the beginning is slow. At least in my opinion, dealing with the opening island area felt like an immensely long chore.

11. Glide and Super Glide should not have been obtainable so close to one another. It makes sense to put Glide at the end since it incentives the need to revisit levels and get everything, but then you get Super Glide which is nicer but it implies you have to go back through the worlds AGAIN after this point and by the time you get it, you're pretty much an hour away from beating the game, so have fun if you're looking to complete everything.
