Panfan wins the game with 10 points. Truly, you are the Settler of Catan.

Final score, including Victory Point Cards:
1. Panfan (10 pts)
2. I am nobody (8 pts)
2. Erniewan (8 pts)
4. Deku Tree (6 pts)
5. Random User (3 pts)
6. Loot (2 pts)

Thank you all for playing, and I hope to see you the next time around.

Gg, IAN. Glad we ended on a tie, that was quite the rivalry! We were both one knight away from winning!

I can't help but think that Panfan having first pick of the settlements had a lot to do with his accumulation of resources. IAN too, to a lesser extent, but IAN had me on his back while Panfan slipped by with his lucky cards. I was really short on lumber for a long time so I spent time expanding to the northeast forest just for that, and I never did get a good Grain field. I was banking on that Wool port when I first picked my spots, but Deku unexpectedly snatched it up.

Thank you, Val for hosting Catan for 5 months! It was my first game, and I actually bought Rivals for Catan (2-player card game) due to this game. Even though I lost, I had a lot of fun.

The house rules I usually play with do starting settlement choice in a random order, with everyone getting to place one settlement before anyone gets to place their second. I don't think that played a huge role in how this turned out, but it would likely have been more fair.

At any rate, well played, Panfan. I can't pretend I'm not mildly annoyed by it being 3v1v1 for a bit there, but when it comes down to it, that's really my fault for picking clearly visible strategies and to your credit for winning stealthily. Didn't see that coming this turn at all.

And Val took FF victory music so, uh...

That'll do.

In my experience with Settlers whoever takes the early lead rarely wins because people start to screw the leader while others quietly sneak up. Almost want to take it slow and steady for a bit
and that's the waaaaaaaaaay the news goes

I had pretty limited options by the time I picked my initial settlements. I would recommend using Ian's suggestion for that in the future.
