I mean, the battles were judged on writing ability primarily, so if you just said "I throw you into the sun lmao now you're dead," you wouldn't score well. And people wouldn't really want to battle you.

Believe me, this is coming from someone who was writing in the Battlefield at the age of, like, 10. I shudder to look back on what I posted in there at the time, and I ask forgiveness from everyone who had to read my garbage.
That makes more sense. I was obviously exaggerating with the instant heart attack, but it wasn't clear to me how anyone could ever "lose" when everybody could just be an anime hero and survive being thrown into the sun because friendship.
