Share your Super Mario Maker levels here!

Post by Valigarmander » Fri Sep 11, 2015 3:08 am

This thread is for sharing your own Super Mario Maker stages as well as playing and discussing other members' stages. We have a general SMM thread here, but to keep everyone's levels easy-to-find, please share them in this thread.

Once you've posted a level online, it will be given a unique ID which allows other people to locate it; make sure you include that ID when showing off your stage here. I'm looking forward to playing all your levels!

...And to kick off the thread, here's my first level, "Super Bowser Bros." ID: EED5-0000-0013-E5A0

The idea I had was a boss battle where you had to fight two SMB3-style Bowsers at the same time, using them to break through the floor beneath you so you can reach the exit. It ended up being utterly unfair no matter how much I tweaked it, until finally I added a pipe that dispenses mushrooms into the arena.

Damn. I guess I should go to bed now.

The high enemy density with little breathing room was a smidge overwhelming, but I could handle it after a few runs.

Also, there's a special place in Hell for you for putting that Lava Bubble in that ? Block.

You definitely won't spend more time inserting the password than actually playing, no sir.

B2EA-0000-0019-0114 = Ultra Super Kaizo DXChallenge
3B3C-0000-0019-4BE7 = Simple
0E50-0000-001B-D368 = Use Stars and RUN Just

Alright, I got a level for you guys.

Actually, I have three.

I've planned 32 levels since SMM got announced, as part of the "Anti Pack". I'm not creating them in order, so I can pander to all difficulties as the pack slowly builds. Hopefully I can finish it all before I get bored of all this nonsense.

1-1: Chestnut Meadow - 6E2E-0000-001C-3808
An unremarkable overworld level, with Goombas as its theme. Nothing much to say.

2-3: Airdrop Canyon - 2887-0000-001C-4398
Autoscroll level with torches, Bob-ombs, and Lakitus. Don't worry--they throw Goombas.

6-2: Sine Wave Cave - 5478-0000-001C-4FE2
An idea I stole from the SMM trailer utilizing synchronized Fire Bars. inb4 purists telling me these aren't real sine waves

Just made two more. Because actual responsibilities can wait.

1-2: Nokonoko Sewers - 26D7-0000-001E-3F19
Your typical underground level with lots of pipes and Koopas. Because we gotta build up to the complex stuff.

3-1: Garden of Teeth - 7D6C-0000-001E-D539
Plants that bite are present, so Munchers everywhere. Also, Fire Piranha Plants and everyone's favorite shoe.

Those were some awesome levels, AS. They definitely feel like they could be in an actual Mario game. Sine Wave Cave in particular kicked my ass.

And those were, uh... definitely levels, X-3.

I don't know why it's so hard to grasp for most of the community. Those people obviously played Mario games before, so just emulate it. It's not that goddamn hard. But no--make way for Lakitu spam, one-screen-long levels, shallow costume utilization, doors that send you back to the start of the level after an arbitrarily crammed obstacle course **** YOU WHOEVER YOU WERE.

I shouldn't be too frustrated; playing garbage levels only fuels my drive to make levels that are actually decent. Speaking of which, have another level. I'm pretty sure I won't be sleeping tonight, anyway.

6-1: Blades of Grass - E0DC-0000-001F-AB73
Grinders in a stage with lots of bushes. Oh snap--Did I just mix castle elements with a standard grassy overworld theme? You're damn right I did. If this sort of element clash is good enough for the SMM community, then it's good enough for me.

Note: You can't Spin Jump off Grinders anymore. Just thought you should know.

Can't wait to try these out when I get the game. I'll probably do a LOT more playing other levels than I will making my own.

I really want to get this sometime soon but I've got a lot of expenses to think about. Will have to wait, I think.

Should I play the Anti Pack individually, or should I wait until they're all out?

Play them now, if you'd like. I wouldn't have uploaded them if I didn't want them played early.

But you should probably go get the game first. ; )

k got one made. euuuuuuugh MEDIOCRE MEDAL GOES TO LOOT

51C5-0000-0024-5C17 - "Spikes can't float... right?"

The highlight from this is I'm starting to learn ways of making progress harder if you screw up (leaving Hammer Brothers instead of downing them), will implement worse levels in the future

right gonna go hit up other levels in this thread

Also for fun try "The Fleet". 55A4-0000-0025-CDA4

Generally I try to make stages that seem like some you would actually find in a Mario game.

I'm really enjoying everyone's levels so far. Tip: if you don't want to have to input those cumbersome IDs every time a VGFer uploads a level, you can just favorite that member after playing one level and then browse their upload list whenever they update.

Did another one: Castlemania - 4920-0000-0026-6A27

You can imagine making great levels in your head, but it's never apparent how hard it is to actually do that until you have that blank slate in the editor.

Two more.

8-1: Speedrun Zone - 946E-0000-0020-AA40
Now you can know what it feels like to be a pro speedrunner! Remember: Taking damage to save time is always an option! ...But some of you already knew that, as some of you already played it.

3-4: Ballistic Airship - 8DE5-0000-0026-5E48
Let me hit you with some of that old-school airship action, featuring all your favorite artists, like Para-Galoomba, Rocky Wrench, and Chain Chomp, featuring a forced boss fight! Jammin'!
