General Help Files

The RPG doesn't have any help files, so it looks like it falls to me to make them. Oh Joy.
I'll be starting with the most general topics and getting more specific until I've covered every important subject on how the RPG works.
If you've got a good understanding of how a particular system works, a little free time, and feel like helping, you're more than welcome. Just PM me so we can go about it the easiest way. You're always welcome to message any of the RPG mods if you have a question that isn't cover here.

Basic Layout and Functions

1. Inventory
This menu allows you to view and manage virtually every item, and every type of item you've collected in the game. Further more, it's here you can find detailed information about the specifics of your items.

Beyond that, your inventory also allows you to:
  • Combine components into new kinds.
  • Use components to craft new equipment.
  • Use potions on yourself or your pet.
  • Equip spells to both yourself and your pet.
  • View the contents of any Books you've obtained.
2. Trade Center
If another player is in the same area, this feature allows you to give or trade items and money with eachother if you choose to do so.

3. Quest Log
This keeps track of all the quests your character has currently accepted, along with their progress. It also keeps a record of quests you've already completed.

4. Pets
Pets are basicly a second party member that you may choose to buy at a pet store. From this menu you can view your pet's current stats.
There are also options to:
  • Name your pet.
  • Level your pet up.
  • Disown your pet.
You may only own one pet at a time.

5. Equiping Your Character
This menu allows you to equip your character with any equipment you've obtained. It also shows you the current weight of what have equipped, along with the maximum possible weight of what your character can wear at one time.

6. Leveling Up

When your character levels up, their stats do not automaticly increase.
Instead, you are awarded a number of Attribute Points which you can choose to put into your stats to increase them however you like and Skill Points, which you may invest in your character's skills.

The exchange rate for Attribute points is not even across all stats.
You may currently exchange 1 Attribute point for:
  • 5 HP (health)
  • 4 MP (fuel for spell casting)
  • 1 Strength Point (increases the power of physical attacks and allows you to carry heavier equipment)
  • 2 Defense Points (protects against physical attacks)
  • 1 Magic Attack Point (increases the power of spells)
  • 2 Magic Defense Points (protects against spells)
  • 1 Speed Point (makes your charcter move sooner in the turn order and possibly gain extra turns)
  • 1 Dexterity Point (increases the accuracy of your physical attacks)
  • 1 Evade Point (makes you more likely to dodge physical attacks)
Skill Points may be invested in:
  • Alchemy, Which determines which potions you can successfully mix.
  • Welding, which detirmines the quality of the components you can use for crafting equipment
  • Arcane, which detirmines the level of spells and enchantments you can buy.
  • Combat, which detirmines the level of attack types you can buy.
  • Taming, which detirmines the level of pet you can buy.
7. Battle Requests
If another player is in the area, this allows you to challenge them to a battle or a game of Triple Triad.

8. Shoping, Inns, and Travel Options
This is one of the most importand menus in the game.
In the Inside Area section you'll be able to view any building you can interact with in your current area. These include:
  • Stores of all kinds that you can buy from and sell to.
  • Inns that you can sleep at to fully restore your HP and MP.
  • Banks that you can store your money at.
  • Temples which allow you to cast enchantments on your equipment.
It's here that you may also spectate in any battles or card games other players in the area are currently having.

The Outside Area option shows all other areas of the game that are directly connected to the one you are currently in. Clicking on them allows you to view the methods of travel available to them, along with travel to them, if you should so choose.


9. Monsters in the Area
This list shows every type of enemy currently in the area.
If you attempt to travel, you may be attacked by them.

The scan option, it allows you to view the stats of a particular monster.

The Hunt option allows you to start a battle with a random monster from the list without traveling.
10. Players in the Area
These are the other players in the area.
You can interact with them in any number of ways describe in the other sections.
The Scan button allows you to view their stats.

11. Party Formation
If your levels are close enough to eachother, it's possible to form a party with any other players in the area if you so choose.
When in a party, party members will follow you automaticly to new areas, as well as join you in fights against any monsters encountered.

When you're a member of somebody else's party, attempting to leave an area on your own will automaticly cause you to leave their party.

12. NPCs, Interactable Objects, and Action Commands
Here you're find and NPC characters in the area that you can talk to and interact with.
If an NPC has plying cards, you can also challenge them to a game of Triple Triad here.

You'll also find certain objects listed here that you can somehow interact with.

Action commands are a special feature created for each area. They allow you to examine the environment and interact with it, as well as use certain items.

13. ShoutBox
Exactly what it looks like. Every area in the game has a separate shoutbox.
You can use this to carry on a conversation with other players, or simply leave messages for anyone else that happens through the area after you. Messages are deleted after 24 hours.

Travel

Methods of Travel

There are 3 basic reoccuring methods of traveling from area to area in the RPG that you'll encounter.

World Map Travel
Standard Travel
Chat Travel

We'll start with the first two.

The World Map can be accessed at any time you aren't in a battle, simply by clicking it's link in the top screen control panel.

Standard Travel can be accessed through the "Available Places" menu in the upper right corner of every area.


World Map Travel

As you progress through the game, some of the areas you visit will automaticly be added to your world map.
You might think of these areas as check points. You can return to them at any time, simply accessing the world map and clicking on their icons.

World Map Travel is primarily used to instantly travel across large areas of the game you've already been to.
It's also used to return to towns after you've been defeated in battle in order to heal at an inn.

Occationally an area you haven't yet been to will appear on your map. (See: Chat Travel) In that case, you may travel to the new area just like you would an old one.


Standard Travel

This is the primary method of moving from place to place in the RPG.
Simply select the area you wish to travel to from the "Available Places" menu of an area and you be shown any available options to travel there.

By far, the most common option is walking. However, you may occationally encounter a different method. Some of these different methods have different enemy encounter rates, or may charge money to use. They all follow the same basic method though.

Speaking of which, This is the only method of travel that you will ever encounter enemies while using.


Chat Travel

Sometimes While talking to an NPC or otherwise interacting with something through the "Interests In The Area" menu, an option to travel someplace new will pop up.

In this case, you can then click on the provided link to travel there.

Chat travel may or may not add the new location to your world map. It's highly situation, detirmined by when, where, and how it happens. Should you miss a chat link to a new area that wasn't added to your map, don't worry; you can almost always get it to reappear, simply by repeating whatever you did to find it in the first place.

Components

Components are a special type of item that can be found in the RPG.
They can be used in quests, sold for money, combined to form stronger types of components, but their Primary purpose is crafting; creating your own equipment.

Open your component inventory and you'll see something like the picture above; your components list, and the options to craft new equipment, or combine components.

Clicking on a component or it's scan option will bring up a component's stats.
These stats are inherited by any piece of equipment you make with it.

Strength, Defense, and Enchantment stats are all averaged between the different types of components you use to make a piece of equipment.

The Weight of each component used is added together for the weight of the final piece of equipment created.

You can also see the Welding Skill required to actually use the component for crafting.

Finally, you can see if there are any crafting bonuses for certain kinds of equipment you can create. In this case there are none, but if there were, it would be added to each of the component's stats when it was used.


Combining Components

In order to combine components to create a new type, simply click on the option at the top of your components inventory list.
This will bring up the list of possible component combinations and what they'll create.

So long as you have the required ingredients and a high enough Weld Skill, clicking the craft button will create your new component.

Some of the best components in the game can only be created this way.


Crafting Equipment

Ready to make your own equipment?

First, select the type of equipment you'd like to create from the drop-down list and click the "Craft" button to take you to the crafting menu.

Note: If you select "Scan" instead of "Craft" it will bring up a list of invisible stat bonuses that the equipment will give your character if you equip it.

Let's try making a dagger.

The Crafting menu shows that it takes 4 components to create a dagger.

First, the fun part. Name your future piece of equipment anything you want. (As long as it's under 20 characters)

Next, select what you'd like your final product to look like from the list of available sprites.

Select the Crafting Tool you'll be using to create your new equipment. A higher quality tool will increase your new equipment's final stats.

Next, scroll down and select the types of components you'll be using.

Choose the types of components you use carefully since they determine the stats of your new equipment.

In this example, I use a piece of Steel as the base, 2 Snake fangs to increase it's power, and some Mana Infusion to raise the equipment's Enchant stat.

When you're finished choosing, press the "Craft" button.

You can find your new piece of equipment in your inventory.
As you can see from the picture, crafted equipment can be stronger than store bought!
