The proposal has enough signatures to go up on the balot.
Anyone gonna vote for or against this?

I'll believe it when it actually happens and not one moment before.

It makes sense. California is too big to manage but also too big to fail. Assuming it actually happened, the important question would be what we actually get. Do we get three diverse states, or do we just get three mini Californias that are as bad off as the original?

The proposal for Jefferson is so old and tired that I’ve stopped taking it seriously, along with any other new state proposals. We’ll see if anything ever actually pans out.

The only new state proposal I take even remotely seriously is Puerto Rico, & that's only because they vote on it regularly, not just to spite political opponents (in either direction).

I don't see it happening any time either, it's like Texas seceding when there's a Democratic president or California seceding when there's a Republican one, or the South rising again, or Cascadia declaring its independence, or... Well, you get the picture. Lots of talk, but no walk.

Billionaires are super dangerous, I'm surprised we don't have more upheaval than we do. There should be some restrictions, and I say this vaguely because I don't know what they'd be.

Yeah, I second the notion, "I'll believe it when I see it." I'd love to throw a big plate of spaghetti in Tucker Carlson's face. Glass plate.
