I didn't know much about him before Dilbert strips disappeared from my Yahoo homepage this week and I found his blog on the Dilbert site. I liked him better when he was just the Dilbert guy to me. But I think he's on to something in giving Trump credit for his ability to manipulate people.

Huh. As hilarious as that was, I guess it was somewhat sexist.

I read further, actually. He clarified that he did not mean that they're similar, so it's not really sexist.

^^Adams' rant was misogynistic and condescending. The first article misrepresents what he's being dismissive about, though. He doesn't suggest getting paid less for equal work is just something for women to shut up and accept, but thinks that the pay gap is often mischaracterized.

If the rant you're talking about is the stuff the article quoted, it only initially seems sexist until they finally dole out the rest of what he said. They did that on purpose. I actually posted a response about thinking it was sexist prior to reading the rest, then kept reading and changed my mind. I don't find it sexist, it certainly wasn't his intent.

He clarified about not equating women with children or the mentally handicapped, but that doesn't mean dismissing women (or a subset of women who understand the pay gap a certain way) as too irrational to be worth talking to about the subject isn't sexist.

I recommend MRA Dilbert on tumblr because it's depressingly good at showing how bad he is
http://blog.dilbert.com/tagged/Trump

Good starting point: http://blog.dilbert.com/post/1284749253 ... t-a-wizard

Scott Adams, creator of Dilbert, has a pretty interesting series on Trump's persuasive abilities and how it's helped him maintain his lead. He's gone so far as to predict a landslide victory for him in the general election. I think Adams' insight is more convincing as an explanation of Trump's success than others I've seen, but his repeated insistence that he's merely interested in Trump's persuasion methods and not trying to persuade his readers to vote for Trump seems disingenuous.
He is not particularly persuasive. He is just the only candidate addressing the concerns of many Americans. I don't think people care much at this point, as long as some hope is held out about these concerns. If some other candidate did this, they might see the same success. They will not, though. Even the other Republican candidates are like this. They give the other side moral authority and play by their rules(AKA political correctness). Trump alone does not do this, either because he just does not care, or because he realized how tired people are of this and how this can work to his advantage. This is something difficult to understand for the wilfully blind, but for the rest, it is is easy to see. I think Scott Adams is overcomplicating the matter. Except for this:
Trump is talking directly to people’s subconscious. Everything else he says is just a carrier signal.
He also appeals to what is left of America's nationalist element. The political establishment in general is made up of business internationalists and socialists. The idea that things ought to be done for the interests of American citizens, the core population that built the country and maintains it, is almost a novel idea these days. "Patriotism" is occasionally drummed up to support some new war for the interests of the establishment and foreign interests. They even have people engaging in doublethink. Remember how awful Islam was supposed to be until around 2007, according to our media? We were supposed to be afraid of Islam(so the government can have an excuse to control us more), but not be afraid of Islam when we import its adherents by hundreds of thousands per year. Al Qaeda is bad, except when our taxes fund it. Russia is bad because it is using Russian ethnic interests to control more territory(Georgia and Ukraine) and is allied with Iran and Syria. But our allies Arabia and Israel are good, and our pointless invasions are good. Except when a Republican declares wars. Then the Democrats can pretend to be an anti-war party for a few years.

I haven't debated with enough women about the supposed pay gap, so I can't say whether or not I think he is correct, but women in general do tend to skew to emotional reasoning in my limited experience, which is basically what I think he is trying to say. Objective observations can't be sexist. If I find that cats tend to scratch you when you pick them up, it isn't catist, it's an observation.

I am not sure what Scott Adams being a misogynist has to do with what he said about Donald Trump. Anyone want to explain? My guess is that Loot wants to say that Adams tacitly supports Trump because Trump hates women too. Otherwise, there would be no two and two to put together.

Maybe Loot isn't implying that Adams picked a candidate for being misogynist, but that it takes some misogyny to be a Trump supporter.

Then anyone who supports any candidate automatically approves of all their perceived shortcomings? Not that I think he is sexist, but nobody is perfect. It is like saying it takes some religious hatred to support Hillary Clinton. Hm. Maybe.

What, that they haven't set up the GULAG? Or maybe that they have not said that they want to make an American Holodomor to starve a bunch of Midwestern farmers to death?
