Finally mastered and finished a thing I really like that I started on a while ago. In which it becomes abundantly clear that I listen to Sigur Rós:

I had a lot of fun experimenting with this one. I like that it's kind of muffled and distorted, I think the effects I was able to produce starting around halfway are interesting and evocative. Sure I have lots to learn and will come back to this in 3 years and hate it, but right now I think it's PRETTY DAMN RAD, so.

Awesome work! It's really great to hear this all polished up with those warm pads supporting the low end and those quiet, bright synth textures help add a lot of energy.

Sooooo for some reason I never posted this here? Back in January at the 2nd global game jam I went to I composed 3 pieces for our game, and I linked to the game but nOT THE OST VID OF MUSIC I COMPOSED FOR IT

BOOM!!! Best track is the nighttime/combat one at 3:12, but I have all 3 for good measure because I'm still quite satisfied with what I came up with all around.

Daytime theme (0:32) may or may not have been heavily inspired by the Luin BGM in ToS. Whoops.

https://m.soundcloud.com/arcanaxix/fma0 ... s-practice

You know it was remarkably easy to pick out this melody on cello. I'm sure that's mostly because it's very tonic and simple, but I'm also sure that my hands remember playing this song on cello about 10 years ago when I first fell in love with FMA and was starting out my habit of playing anime and game songs on piano/cello.

Anyway, I kind of want to make a more published cover of this theme sometime, but I'm still happy with this quick rendition I recorded while practicing today.

I actually got to attend the global game jam again this year!!! Not only was it my first chance to stream music composition, which was pretty chill and fun and which I might do again, BUT it got me to actually make ****!!

I'll post the game when it's out but these are the tracks I made for it:

I'm really pleased with how much better my production is than just 2 years ago. I still have a lot to learn but I am QUITE pleased with how all of these tracks came out. Cityskape is my favorite. By the time I realized that was a misspelling I was so used to calling it that that that's just the song's title now.

I've slept a grand total of like 3 hours in the past 2 days. I tried to sleep more but my body wouldn't let me. Oh well I was productive so all good

^That was really cool, homey. Kind of thing one can imagine hearing in the item shop of a JRPG, or maybe as some goofy-minor-villain-before-he-becomes-a-party-member's musical motif. It's good and I like it, dude.

Thank you! The theme for this year was "home" so I tried to have all 3 of the tracks have a kind of comfy, relaxed, atmospheric vibe while still feeling distinct. Realized 8 hours in that I had decided to write all of them in 4/4 time lol..... I like to think there's still decent variety though given that.........

"Beach Condo" reminds me of a Pokemon song, I can't remember precisely which. It's nice and seems would fit in the series.

Beach Condo was totally thematically ripped off of the Skyward Sword island themes. Er, inspired by, I mean. But a couple people have told me it reminds them of something else so maybe the Pokemon song is it? Regardless, thank you!

I've always wanted to write something that is just one instrument but still has depth and harmony to it. I'm happy with how it came out.

That's the one of the few Zeldas I haven't played at all, but I suppose I can see it fitting there too. Definitely a Nintendo vibe going on regardless, that's definitely a good thing.

This is what I had in the back of my mind while writing it. I really loved the SS soundtrack.

Zelda never...*coughs*BotW*coughs*...disappoints in the soundtrack department, I can tell why you love that OST. Keep up the good work making these neat songs. Can't wait to try the game you made the songs for to see how they line up with it.
