I've never played a Touhou in my life but Bamboo Forest of the Full Moon is pretty rad, reminds me of something from Sonic

Have I mentioned before that I'm totally Rihanna trash?

Priests - Nothing Feels Natural

so yeah if you like post-punk type stuff check this out right away it's really really damn good. priests have been a really under the radar band for a while now (their demos and debut ep both owned). this is more or less their official debut lp and it's got the intensity of their demos with a more polished sound that really ends up working well. i dig a lot.

Radiohead - The Numbers

This record really does pleasingly elaborate on some of the ghostly, ethereal stuff I loved most on In Rainbows. It actually blows my mind that that record turns 10 this year. This is my first time getting a chance to actually spin A Moon Shaped Pool in earnest, and it's a great group of tunes, much more enjoyable for me than the frigid, if haunting, The King of Limbs, though this may be solely because In Rainbows holds its own special place for me and this one feels so much like it.

Soundgarden - Rusty Cage

I spent most of yesterday reading whilst Gojira's latest two full-lengths and Soundgarden's music set the vibes. I can't praise Gojira's unique rhythm and depth of tone enough, and Soundgarden exemplifies a similar quality, just on the more melodic side. It's a testament to powerful chemistry and genius musicians. The ability to put hooks into every piece of the tune, from the riffs down the drums, and eke out a unified identity within the sound without losing the singular spirit of each musician is the quality that leads to truly incredible albums.

Mastodon's two new ones, Sultan's Curse and Show Yourself.

Now, I really dig both tunes, mostly for equally representing, and distilling, two sides of Mastodon. The heavy and mystical Curse is my favorite of the two, and I need to sit on Show Yourself for a minute. I commend the catchy track, and the latter half with the swirling guitar textures is incredible, but it is a little jarringly spare at first. Still, I'm looking forward to the new stuff as always.

Big Sean - Same Time (feat Jhene Aiko)

I clown Big Sean all the time but he really is growing as an artist and getting better recently. The album isn't great but it has some good tracks. Stay the hell away from that Eminem song though.

Dredg - Sorry But It's Over

What fascinates me about Dredg is the drumming. On this record in particular, it is expressive, free, and **** powerful. It's one of the big'ns for me.
