Have any video games introduced you to good music?

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was probably the only sports franchise I've ever really enjoyed (at least until its ignominious decline), and one of my favorite aspects of the series was its music. The games' soundtracks had a profound effect on my musical taste, and really gave me a love for punk, ska and hip hop. Heck, it's hard for me to listen to the former two genres today and not associate it with THPS.

The GTA series has had some good music, too. And I believe Twisted Metal 4 was my first encounter with Rob Zombie.

ditto with the tony hawk games, it's probably the reason punk continues to be one of my preferred genres

but vgm in general is really it's own genre now and it's inspired a lot of stuff like chiptune

The Flame in the Flood: Chuck Ragan (he did the entire soundtrack)
MVP Baseball 2005 (RIP): The Dropkick Murphies ("Tessie")
Saints Row 3: Bonnie Tyler ("Holding Out for a Hero")
Rock Band: "Spirit in the Sky" and "Float On." Don't know which specific RB it was since I never played any of them - just overheard other people.
Portal: Johnathan Coulton
Borderlands: Cage the Elephant
Life is Strange: Faunts

Had to think about it for a bit to remember them all, but that's a pretty surprising amount. It's also all quite old besides the first and last ones - licensed soundtracks are starting to be kind of rare outside of microtransaction games.

There's loads more from dedicated rhythm games like osu!, Taiko no Tatsujin, or Audiosurf, but I feel like those don't count.

There are a few really nice songs in the Fallout series that I probably wouldn't have listened to otherwise.

Definitely Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. I wouldn't have gotten into Del the Funky Homosapien otherwise.

Before the Echo. A former coworker told me a long time before I played the game to listen to Ronald Jenkees but due to laziness etc. I didn't hear his stuff until I played the game. Super neat.
Do you know how much you mean to me

I didn't really listen to David Bowie until MGS 5 played "The Man Who Sold the World."

I didn't get into the genres fully until a few years after my peak days of playing them but Tony Hawk games definitely influenced my tastes in hip-hop and punk.

Also Guitar Hero/Rock Band games had an immeasurable impact on my music listening. While I was familiar with a lot of the classic rock in the games, the more modern stuff they offered definitely helped me get into more modern/alternative rock - Foo Fighters, Primus, Alice in Chains, Radiohead, Queens of the Stone Age, Smashing Pumpkins, Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, The Stone Roses, Butthole Surfers, The Killers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Muse, New Pornographers, The Strokes, etc.

Never heard The Heavy before 'Borderlands 2'. Their song "Short Change Hero" is a pretty good theme for the game--------pretty good indicator that BL2 was going to be a hair different in tone from the original.

Most games I have played have introduced me to really awesome video game soundtracks, so there's that.
