A lot of people don't agree with me, but I really like the Mega Man Wily Wars OST. The nes ones aren't bad, but the remake stands out for me.

I just don't see where all the hate is coming from. It sounds fine.

^Wily Wars actually has one of my favorite Mega Man songs with Buster Rod-G's theme

the melody from 0:05 to 0:34 is just really good, it has a very magical quality to it

^That has a very Mega Man 7 vibe to me.

I just don't see where all the hate is coming from. It sounds fine.[/QUOTE]It's the instrumentation that gets me. Mega Drive and Genesis had such crunchy, unsubtle sound fonts that just really grate on my ears when abused (which is often). Given the choice between that Wily Wars and NES versions of music, I'd take NES 10 times out of 10.

The Snake Man music in Wily Wars has so many unnecessary overtones and backing channels, almost as if to just prove a point. The NES version is just...cleaner. I feel like that's a common theme when comparing the two soundtracks.

The Neverhood's OST is a grand experience, and one of my favorite albums to listen to in the late spring/early summer.

One of the greatest parts of that game was the soundtrack.

If you don't appreciate Sunsoft's soundfonts, you're wrong and need to reform, probably in prison

Mr Gimmick is one of the unsung masterpieces of the time.

I still haven't played it, but I've watched enough speedruns of it to recognize how great it is. One of the most entertaining retro speedgames out there.

Knuckles chaotix has a really good ost. Door into summer, midnight green house, and evening star are my favorites.

I torrented every Final Fantasy soundtrack a long time ago. I recently realized that I keep returning to hear Final Fantasy V.

Sixthing (or such) Donkey Kong Country 2. Mega Man 7 and Mega Man X also have some of the best music on the system.

I'll add Pokémon Red/Blue. That soundtrack is absolutely delightful. It's musically diverse and emotionally powerful. The Gym theme manages to make you feel both like a challenger when you step into the building, and like a champion when the fight is over. It's become the background music to whenever something big is happening in my life.

The dungeon theme from FFV is one of my favorite tracks in the game, and my second-favorite FF dungeon theme in the series (top vote goes to FFI's dungeon).
