It's the only place I've heard of it. What are you using it for, then?

It's the most used language for data science/machine learning, is extremely popular for parsing/data manipulation scripts, and powers several widely-used web frameworks like Django. It's still a ways off challenging Java for most used language, but you can find it in almost anything that doesn't need manual memory management these days. And even some things that do if people are getting clever with C libraries or Cython.

Ketchup was sold as medicine in the 1830s.

Thirty years before Heinz started bottling and selling the stuff as a condiment, an Ohio physician named Dr. John Cook Bennett thought the tomato-based product was as good as Pepto-Bismol. He said it could cure diarrhea and indigestion, and even concentrated ketchup into pill form to sell to the stomach-achy masses.

That's surprising! But let's be honest, what wasn't sold as medicine in the 1830s?

What I learned today: writing a thesis is best done back-to-front. You start with your main result, then write all (and only) the specific background you need for your main result, then you write the more general concepts you need to state the specific background, then you write the most basic concepts you need for the more general concepts that are required for the specific background that leads to your main result. Then you write an introduction! Yup.

today I learned that the optimal (read: only) time to take a pee break in the middle of a tales of symphonia speedrun is during the Giant Tree cutscene that starts immediately after you fight luna/aska.

How long are these speedruns of yours that you need to strategically time a bathroom break

Ten hours 16 minutes and some. The pee break was very much needed.

Granted if you're good at the game it only takes 7 hours or so. Still... bathroom break optimization is certainly A Thing.

Today I learned there's going to be a 'Frozen 2'.

...I don't like 'Frozen'. I don't like Elsa, and I don't like that people like Elsa. She's pretty much Magneto, with slightly better branding. It's not okay. Her dang parents...instead of buyin her all them gloves, they should've bought her some Spider-Man comics. Maybe then she would've taken on 'with great power comes great responsibility', instead of that garbage 'conceal-------don't feel' horsecrap. Maybe then she'd have turned out okay. Instead she sang 'Let it Go'. That thing is a villain song if ever I heard one. Like, she says 'the cold never bothered me anyway', and less than an hour later, the cold turns her sister into a dang otter-pop right in front of her. You know, I bet the cold bothered Anna as it was literally killing her. What a disgusting selfish thoughtless creature Elsa is.

'Frozen' can go straight to heck, as far as I'm concerned.

Like why not do a sequel to 'Moana' instead? Is that universe all tapped out? Moana is a sweetie-pie. I'd watch another movie with her.

I never saw Frozen, but there's only one thing you need to know. $1.2 billion.
Now I know there's a reason you shouldn't blame others when you do something wrong, and that reason is: you might get caught and have to apologize to a bunch of dumb peasants.

^I know why they're making it. Doesn't mean I have to be pleased about it.

Like they'd be in desperate financial straits if they didn't go back to the well. Don't try to kid me, man-cub.
