I learnt that Dwarf Fortress updated and now like all of my dwarves are high school poets.

Song China was the first country to issue paper money, around the 12th century.

I learned that a bunch of people that worked on Tales of Phantasia worked on Star Ocean. No wonder they feel so similar.

The Japanese translation of Diff'rent Strokes replaced "Watchoo talkin' bout Willis?" with "冗談は顔だけにしてくれよ”, which translates approximately as "Do me a favor and only make jokes about your face." Diff'rent Strokes last aired in 1986, but that didn't stop Inazuma Eleven from quoting the mistranslation 22 years later.

In other news, that's the second time in the first chapter that my children's soccer RPG has made a reference so obscure that I could only figure it out thanks to similarly confused native speakers on Japanese Yahoo Answers. I'm starting to think this might turn into the longest game I've ever played. >_>

The words used for one of the alchemy books in the 2003 FMA anime appears to be from a D&D related text (judging from the terms "DM", "d20," and "NPC"). Van Hohenheim was a nerd, confirmed.
