What time do you go to bed?

#1

Post by VG_Addict » Sun Mar 10, 2019 8:27 pm

Sleep is very important for good health. So, what time do you go to bed, and what time do you wake up?

I go to bed at 10pm +/- 30 minutes and get up between 5:00 and 5:30 probably 95% of the time. With the exception of when I'm sick (go to bed earlier) or when everything gets thrown off by travel, the other 5% usually isn't much outside that window.

Been having a really annoying issue staying asleep for the last few months though, so if we're asking when I wake up rather than when I get up, then also circa midnight, 2 am, and 4 am depending on how much my brain hates me that night. Trying to see a doctor about it. >_>

I go to bed around 8:00 AM.

I'm a night owl because 1) I work a graveyard shift, and 2) I'm antisocial.

Bedtime: Too late to be healthy, not late enough to get everything done.

School-day waking: Between 6:00 & 6:30.
Weekends/holidays/vacation waking: Could be anytime between 8:00 & noon, unless I have an early appointment.

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I'm currently between jobs so I've been averaging going to bed at 4am and waking up at 2pm.

My brain is **** confused all the time.

I go to sleep at 12-1am wake up at 8 on the dot every morning. On weekends I'll sleep in an extra hour or wake up an hour early. Surprisingly enough when if I end up having a couple on a weekend, I'll wake up earlier than usual the next day somehow, kind of a backward way of things.

Anywhere from 12:30 AM to 1:15 AM.

If I stay up until 2 AM it's because I'm actually trying to finish something important.

I wake up at 7 AM. I never really needed an alarm. I just naturally wake up around that time. I still have an alarm JUST IN CASE. There have been one or two instances when I turned off my alarm and have no recollection of doing so until I realize it's almost 8 AM. That was because of some special instance when I went to bed at like 4 or something crazy like that.

On weekends, I like to wake up around 9 AM. 10 is pushing it. Anything past 11AM makes me feel gross and useless.

I go to bed at 9:26, and if I'm not asleep by 9:36-9:40, I give up and take a sleep formula pill.

Should I give myself more time?

Do you need more time? Are you waking up the next morning tired because of that 20 minutes you lost falling asleep? You can't expect to fall asleep in a four-minute window every night. I think it's fairly normal for people to encounter issues falling asleep. Taking a little sleep aid and letting nature take its course every night just seems like it would be easier for you then being focused on completing a task at a specific time. Sleep is supposed to be a way for your body to recharge and your mind to let go of the steering wheel for a while. You seem to be really focused on a specific time.

I don't really see any adverse health effects for some natural sleep aids. I don't know what sleep formula pill you are taking but even a little melatonin gummy would do the trick.

I sleep on and off when I need it. Usually I have a few couple-hour naps during the day (and night, when I'm off work). I can't remember the last time I had a single long sleep. Probably before I switched to third-shift eight years ago.

I want to try to go to bed later, at 10:30, but one night, I went to bed at 9:45 and didn't sleep at all that night. I'm worried I'll be up all night if I try to go to bed later again.

In the words of Dr. Love, "Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy."

What's the worst that can happen if you go to sleep a little later in the grand scheme of things. Won't know until you try.

But I might not be able to sleep at all if I go to bed at 10:30.
