I've been going through my music files lately, organizing them and deleting all the crap I never listen to. It feels like cleaning up your home after over a decade of hoarding ****.

Doing some organizing myself. I just spent about an hour cataloging my sermons from this year. I don't know if it's actually worth it to have hard copies of my sermons in a filing cabinet, but that's what I want, so that's what I'm doing.

Turns out I've preached 11 English sermons, 6 Spanish sermons, and 3 sermons I preached in both Spanish and English.

I should re-learn Spanish, I did all right with it in high school, and now that I have a really decent grasp of French grammatical structure, I feel like it'd be super easy to get back into.

I took Spanish for like 7 years of my life and I have nothing to show for it. And now I live in a place where French is the second language, lol.

I have a smattering of knowledge of Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Korean from my numerous abortive attempts at learning a second language. Maybe one of these days I'll finally stick to it.

If you do go for another attempt, Val, I heavily suggest French as well. English takes so much from French that it's probably the easiest stepping stone from it. I'd say even easier than Spanish, contrary to what most people think.

Oh wow, really? I actually didn't know that, but I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised. That's pretty cool.

Yeah, for grammar, German is closest; for word construction, it's kind of a tossup between German and French.

English is a Germanic language, so in terms of grammar, it comes close to other Germanic languages
But it takes a lot of vocab from Latin, French, and Spanish, so in terms of vocab, it's closer to a Romance language

^indeed. Learning Latin (/pretty much any romance language) really helps you figure out word meanings. Though German does have its fair share of cognates to English as well
