oh i didn't wanna give off the impression that i'm not enjoying botw because i really love it, it's just that i'm approaching the end game and i'm too nervous to fight ganon so i'm just piddling around trying to do any significant enough sidequest i can find

That's what I did in Skyrim, to the point I never finished it.

i'm always too nervous for the final gauntlet. it's not uncommon for me when i'm playing mega man games to just beat the robot masters and never do the fortress stages

maybe it's for the best. i get more games played that way

Don't sweat it, Ganon is pretty easy.

^^ Huh. Interesting that you play that way in linear games, it's just anything more open-ended for me.

X-3 is right, BotW Ganon is a cakewalk if you've already done the Divine Beasts.

Not really, more like an emptier Skyrim with less to do and no RPG elements, but with some annoyances tacked on like weapon degradation and stamina (which aren't necessarily bad concepts but they're poorly implemented).

I’d really argue against the notion that there’s less to do in BotW than in Skyrim, but I already know that you and I are looking for different things in open world games.

im not worried about difficulty so much as fear of actually trying to complete the game, if that makes sense

in other words, you don't want the game to end?

^^^^ Well, I mean it seems to me that there's less to do, not necessarily that what's there is of lesser quality. I mean the RPG elements themselves lend Skyrim to a number of very unique playthroughs, let alone all of the missions, guilds, and dialogue options, etc. My opinion won't hold much weight until I finish BotW though.

I love starting new games, personally. I now have the unfortunate habit that I will force myself to finish them ever if I'm not having fun.

Are you doing any kind of special SM64 run right now, DZ? Like only half-pressing the A button or something?

im actually not playing sm64 right now, but i did do that with sm64ds a while back. i got up to 53 stars without pressing jump, and i beat the game using only three B presses total.

i think with TAS you could beat the game with 1 B press (currently, bowser in the sky requires B to be held and released. interestingly, the actual pressing of the button isn't actually required except to facilitate the hold and release). there is an integer overflow glitch in many stages where you can essentially collect any object by simply waiting hundreds of years next to something that continuously produces objects that yoshi can eat. i doubt this can be used in bowser in the sky however, as i've yet to see anyone use it.
