TGIF March 2 is in need of this long weekend!!

We have a long weekend, which I'd gladly just take at the speed of a sloth but I have too much to do. Usual sport commitments do not take long weekends off and I am catching up with family over the weekend, as well, which means baking and laughter.

What are your plans for this weekend? :D

i just spent a million years grinding enough GRADE to carry over all the stuff I need for a good NG+ speedrun in tales of symphonia. currently watching the endgame cutscene so i can finally verify that it is enough, and cry if it wasn't.

tomorrow I am doing a NG+ speedrun using this file, Saturday I work and then plan to start cutting out the pieces for the Shepherd Sorey cape I patterned, and Sunday I'd like to start working on applique on the cape before going to a friend's to binge play Zestiria since I didn't get the chance last week.

busy, but busy doing fun nerd ****.

edit: oh **** me. i heavily miscalculated and it looks like i have about..... oh, another 2-3 hours of grinding to do this. STRUGGLES.

Well, I'm going to bed, and I'm gonna wake up tomorrow morning and deal with it after I've slept a bit. The things we do for video games we love.

Visit someone at the hospital, maybe do some book shopping.

Work, maybe pick up some cider if the wind dies down, some gaming-type things.

Yesterday I went for drinks with coworkers then went to a trivia night that my students put on as a fundraiser for film club. Today I’m working on a group project for grad school with a colleague then thrift store shopping with friends then playing board games with them. Tomorrow...I’ll probably work on my essay.

All kinds. Arkham Horror games, Gloom Haven, Sushi Go Party, Dead of Winter, Clank, Sheriff of Nottingham, Codenames, Catacombs, Lords of Waterdeep, Merchants and Marauders, Agricola, Adrenaline, Love Letter, Forbidden Island, Forbidden Desert, 7 Wonders, Star Realms, Talisman, Dungeon Petz, Last Night on Earth, Mage Wars, Galaxy Trucker, Eclipse, Smash Up, Summoner Wars, Descent, Blood Bowl, Time Stories, Xia, Sentinals, Tsuro, Takenoko, Small World, Epic Spell Wars, One Night Ultimate Werewolf, Near and Far, Carcassonne, King of Tokyo/New York, Terra Mystica, Mysterium, Dixit, Roll for the Galaxy, Tyrants of the Underdark, Pandemic, Dominion, Ticket to Ride, and like a bunch more that I can’t think of off the top of my head. It just depends what people want to play.

Wow. Of those I'm actually familiar with Last Night on Earth and Ticket to Ride.

I'm glad you guys ain't playing, like, Monopoly or Risiko or some such. Most of the popular board games are pretty dang weak.

Much agreed. :) That list was fun to make, btw.

I’ve been playing it with my English-learning students on Fridays as a way to help them be persuasive but also talk out loud to each other, and they love it.

My friend is an ESL teacher abroad and does the same thing! I'm his board game source. 8)

I quit buying board games after I kind of stopped having people around, but I still got some of the classics. Axis and Allies, Carcassonne, Catan and all. That dang ridiculous impossible-to-win Lord of the Rings game. Good old Kings Cribbage, which was, like, designed to be catnip for my family (it's like Scrabble, only you're making cribbage hands instead of words. Always have a couple rounds of it with my cousins at the reunion and Christmas party).

^It really does. Such a fun way to learn a language!

I only occasionally buy board games as it's much cheaper (and easier) to go by Squeege's work and play there--they have a huge library. HUGE. Last game I bought was right after Christmas. It was missing parts, so I got it at cost instead of retail.
