Currently doing a 100% play through of Majora’s Mask 3D to christen my New 2DS XL. This remake is really great, save for a few minor gripes.

Do you hate the new Zora swimming mechanics? That was my biggest issue with the 3DS version.

Also, in regards to 120-Star-Runs: I find myself always wanting to do one, but giving up around the time I get access to the second floor of the castle.

i pretty much can't stop myself from doing them at this point because like once every month or two i think "i wanna play sm64" and then before i know it i've already gotten all the stars. i've already done it 4 times this year with the N64 version and twice with the DS version (one was the jump button challenge run)

my life is just playing sm64 and project m ad nauseum

I like to imagine by "this year" you mean in the past three days.

If Nintendo games had a Trophy system like PSN I'd almost certainly finally get all 120 Stars. Nintendo games lend themselves to completionists well quite naturally so I find it baffling that Nintendo hasn't implemented such a feature. Then again they're still using friend codes and have Dreamcast era online infrastructure in place in 2018, which they intend to charge for, so why am I surprised.

It's more than what you get for winning every trophy in other games, at least.

Doesn't Sony give credits for Trophies now?

You have to sign up for a program to do that, and there are a lot of limitations on it.

Zora swimming is one of my two issues. The other one is the big dumb eye that all the bosses have now. Which is a shame, because the boss fights are actually re-worked to be much better in general.

I cannot play Mario 64 and get less than 120 Stars. It’s just ingrained in me. I do it about once a year.

DZ, what do you think of the DS version of Mario 64? Personally, I’d love to see them re-release Mario 64 DS (which, yes, I know, is already a rerelease), but with ANALOG CONTROLS. Even playing with the circle pad, the digital control scheme is just so obvious and annoying.

Still, more than Nintendo's non-existent Trophy system gives you.

i've beaten through it a couple times recently. it's pretty good and i like most of what's been added. the controls are weird at first and pretty limiting compared to the original. but you can get used to them if you take it slow, which is fine since the platforming is generally less demanding than n64. it's also MUCH more viable for an RTA jump button challenge, as i managed to get 53 stars without pressing B once and beat the game using only 3 (and possibly i could have done even better).

i also think having four playable characters was implemented pretty well. it avoids the dk64 problem by having them be useful but usually not required for different challenges, but even when a certain character was required, you could just grab a cap in the course instead of having to exit the course and switch to them. i also think three of the four characters are great to play as because they all offer unique and fun playstyles with different advantages and disadvantages to use. i say three out of four because wario is basically useless and a slog to play and i literally only use him when it's a genuine requirement like breaking blocks or using a metal cap.

also some of the minigames are really fun. i like luigi poker

Nintendo has the My Nintendo rewards for their mobile games, at least.

^ If they retool it a bit that could work well.
