Ever have the insoles of your shoes get loose and have to have them glued back?

I had to do that the other day. Should I just get new shoes?
i mean if the rest of the shoe is holding up you're probably fine just gluing it back in or getting new insoles. i have a 7+ year old pair of shoes i still wear regularly around the house. they're not very nice-looking anymore but they're comfortable shoes that are easy to get on and off whenever i have to go to the basement or out in the yard or whatever.

So long as the outer soles are still attached you are probably fine. I know some people whose shoes are just completely fallen apart and they S T I L L wear them like wtf

Oh yeah, they're doing it right. You gotta vaporize your shoes DBZ style, man.

A lot of adult cartoons ironically come off as more childish than cartoons meant for kids. Swearing every other sentence, sex, drugs, and violence don't make something adult. That's more like a child's idea of what adult means.

Well, they're definitely not things for kids, so they're adult. Those topics can be approached childishly, though.

it feels like most adult-oriented cartoons in America are comedies, and many of those do have themes like violence and other shocking content in gratuity. And to be fair, animation is a good place for that kind of content because the nature of the medium lets you be more campy and comical with it, and some people probably enjoy the juxtaposition of cute cartoons doing graphic things (Happy Tree Friends comes to mind).

That said, I really wish we had more adult animation that wasn't overtly comedic. We don't have a lot of shows here that can be described as "animated dramas", which is something anime has been allowed more freedom to explore for decades now. Even the adult cartoons that do explore deeper themes are still comedies more often than not.

tangentially related: Big Mouth is hideous and grotesque and actually makes me uncomfortable when I look at it

Anime has a lot more versatility than American cartoons do because the art isn't always supposed to look cartoony. I've never seen American animation that I could take "seriously."

Does the Netflix Castlevania series count as an American production?

I think Castlevania was done by westerners. It was still done in an anime kind of style though. If it looked like The Simpsons it probably wouldn't be taken seriously.

Was every cartoon in the 80s a glorified toy commercial?

most american cartoons could be seen as glorified toy commercials. i'm pretty sure toy sales are where most of the money from the IPs come from

i mean pretty much yeah, most cartoons in the 80s were created with the intent to sell toys. thats part of why nicktoons in the 90s were as popular as they were: they existed to be entertainment primarily and merchandising was auxiliary.
