The game looks really nice. Though I have to wonder how smoothly the QTEs will be integrated in the game.

I played the Beta. I spent more time downloading it than playing it. Multiplayer appears to be a terrible laggy P2P thing, the Demon Rune is basically an "I Win" button for a couple of minutes, and there's no sense of control of space etc.
Maybe the singleplayer will be OK?
Why is it drug addicts and computer afficionados are both called users?

I've read that the multiplayer was outsourced. The real game is definitely the campaign.

So that countdown was for the start of Romero's kickstarter for an FPS him and Adrian Carmack are working on called Blackroom. He's pitching it as a return to the core design of Doom and Quake and their diverse but fast-paced gameplay and stages. They don't have much to show but the pitch sounds solid, especially since they're going to be working with Unreal Engine.

Blackroom kickstarter has been cancelled so they can make a demo for the game before they continue the pitch.

Preloading for the new DOOM has begun from 12am EST today. Looking forward to making my system cry with this thing, as I'm overdue a CPU upgrade but can overclock in the meantime.

Despite people being somewhat ambivalent about the game pre-release, it seems the new Doom game is getting a heavy amount of praise from FPS fans.

It was the same with Wolfenstein: The New Order really. The demo was crap, the game wasn't. Doom's multiplayer was unimpressive, but the single player campaign is getting praise.

Id might need to give whoever makes these demos a real talking to.

To be fair, that was just an open beta for the multiplayer. Bethesda shouldn't have been trying to push multiplayer on a campaign-focused singleplayer game so hard, though, especially when mp was outsourced - it is a bit absurd. They've wanted to crack the online fps market for awhile though.
