Character(s) of the Month #70: Safari Zone

Post by CaptHayfever » Tue Aug 01, 2017 12:34 pm

Pokémon Characters

HOME COURSES:
WiiU - Kalos Pokémon League, Pokémon Stadium 2
3DS - Unova Pokémon League, Prism Tower

PIKACHU

SPECIALS:
B - Thunder Jolt (source: TCG)
Thunder Wave, Thunder Shock
Side B - Skull Bash (source: R/G/B)
Shocking Skull Bash, Heavy Skull Bash
Up B - Quick Attack (source: R/G/B)
Meteor Quick Attack, Quick Feet
Down B - Thunder (source: R/G/B)
Thunder Burst, Distant Thunder
Final Smash - Volt Tackle (source: Ruby/Sapphire)

UPDATES:
--This isn't so much an update to Smash as it is an update to Pokémon, but Pika's new Z-move Catastropika kinda resembles the SSB version of Volt Tackle (which Catastropika is an upgrade to).
--Of the customs, only Thunder Wave & Thunder Shock are real Pokémon attacks.

JIGGLYPUFF

SPECIALS:
B - Rollout (source: Gold/Silver)
Relentless Rollout, Raging Rollout
Side B - Pound (source: R/G/B)
Sideways Pound, Pound Blitz
Up B - Sing (source: R/G/B)
Hyper Voice, Spinphony
Down B - Rest (source: R/G/B)
Leaping Rest, Wakie Wakie
Final Smash - Puff Up (source: Brawl)

UPDATES:
--Jiggs now has a lower crouch, able to duck under a massive variety of attacks.
--Statwise, Purinpuff has been vastly improved from Brawl.
--Customs: Hyper Voice is a real Pokémon attack. Wakie Wakie is masochistic.

MEWTWO

SPECIALS:
B - Shadow Ball (source: G/S)
Side B - Confusion (source: R/B/G)
Up B - Teleport (source: R/B/G)
Down B - Disable (source: R/B/G)
Final Smash - Psystrike (source: Black/White)

UNLOCK:
WiiU - DLC
3DS - DLC

TAUNTS:
Up - Spinning laugh
Side - Dark aura
Down - Threaten the camera

UPDATES:
--Mewtwo Returns!
--Mewtwo turns into Mega Mewtwo Y (Beats by Dre) for Psystrike. Unlike Mega Charizard X or Mega Lucario, it isn't controllable in this form.
--Has been heavily buffed from Melee, but Disable has been considerably nerfed, no longer launching opponents.
--As a DLC character, it has no customs....but as can be determined from a now-patched glitch, it was gonna. The glitch allowed Mewtwo to inherit custom moves from Miis (crashing the game in the process).

LUCARIO

SPECIALS:
B - Aura Sphere (source: Diamond/Pearl)
Snaring Aura Sphere, Piercing Aura Sphere
Side B - Force Palm (source: D/P)
Advancing Force Palm, Long-Distance Force Palm
Up B - Extreme Speed (source: G/S)
Ride the Wind, Extreme Speed Attack
Down B - Double Team (source: R/B/G)
Glancing Counter, Stunning Double Team
Final Smash - Mega Lucario (source: X/Y)

UPDATES:
--Aura stacks with Rage, so a high-damage Lucario is now even more of a threat than ever.
--Of the customs, Counter is technically a separate Pokémon attack.

Gotta catch 'em all!

And remember, "I'm-a Luigi, number one!"

I miss Pichu. It was always fun embarrassing my friends by beating them with that little mouse.
