Playstation 5.
When do you think the Playstation 5 will come out? Will it come out in 2019?

I'm thinking it will release soon. Maybe not this year but 2019 at the latest.

Re: Playstation 5.
The Last of Us Part 2 is confirmed for PS4, right? I don't think they'll develop that for two systems at once, and they definitely won't want a big title like that releasing on their last-gen system, so I can't imagine getting the PS5 announcement before E3 2019. I think 2020 is a little more like since it gives them more time to figure out what, if anything, they're doing with their 4K and VR initiatives, but either year would give enough time for at least a few notable devs to make launch/advertising titles.
The only thing that makes me doubt that a little is how well the Switch is doing, but even if they're going to risk going back to the (partial) handheld market, I'm not sure that they've had enough time to make a serious competitor, nor that they'd give a hybrid console the PS5 name.

Re: Playstation 5.
^ Nintendo put Zelda on NGC & Wii, and Wii U & NS. It isn't an unheard of idea to put a big game on two consoles at once, so TLoU2 could launch for both PS4 & PS5 simultaneously. I don't think they will but it's possible.
If Sony chases the hybrid concept they'd be wise to use PSP2 as a name. It still has some positive brand recognition behind it and I don't think it would be smart to gamble the PS5 name on what would basically be... a gamble IMO.

Re: Playstation 5.
^Right, but Nintendo and Sony are very different companies. Nintendo doesn't try to compete on graphics, so there wasn't much beyond control gimmicks that couldn't be shared between the versions of TP and BotW. GC TP definitely looked worse in 4:3 than the Wii version did in widescreen, but they weren't trying to wow you with graphics to begin with, so those screenshots didn't matter as much.
Sony is very different - where Nintendo ads emphasize that Grandma can bowl with you or that you can play Zelda on the bus, Sony's ads are mostly about how realistic and intense their worlds are, and they're loaded with cutscenes/bull shots and live action. Since many of the biggest-selling games (ie, everything from Activision/Ubi/EA) is mutli-plat between them and Xbox and content differences are minimal, they need to be seen as having a minimum of parity with that system.
Naughty Dog is a big part of that - those ads inevitably feature up-close shots of cutscene Nathan Drake or setpieces from Uncharted. It seems safe to say they're Sony's premier studio at this point, and there's just no world in which they're going to be allowed to release a game on a new console that doesn't push that system as far as they can. It's what's expected after their last half-dozen games, and Sony has billboards to cover.
In other words, unless Sony fundamentally changes their business philosophy and stops caring about graphics, (which seems very unlikely after the PS4 Pro and how far behind PC they are now) TLOU2 PS5 would have to be utterly beyond the PS4's ability to run. Even if they can make up for that relatively easily by just toning down the effects and resolution, they'd have a version of the game that looks like **** compared to both its sibling and whatever MS is showing off. They don't need or want that confusion.
And on top of all of that, they'd have their system-seller dev making the sequel to what is widely considered their best game available on the wrong system. TLOU2 would absolutely be a deciding factor for many people in buying a PS5 over an XboxTwo, but they might not need to make that decision at all if they already have a PS4. And the PS4 version can't even pretend that whatever controller gimmick they come up with for the PS5 is vital to the gameplay.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's definitely possible that they'll decide the extra sales are worth the hit to PS5 sales and deliberately misleading Youtube videos comparing TLOU2 PS4 to Halo 6, but it'd be a significant departure from what seems to have been their strategy until now.

Re: Playstation 5.
What they'll do is release TLOU2 Remastered a year after the PS4 version.

Re: Playstation 5.
Maybe they'll even bundle it with The Last of Us Remastered Remastered if they're feeling generous.

Re: Playstation 5.
I could've swore I replied to this. Anyway, I agree, as I said I don't think they'll do it but it is indeed possible, especially if they do decide on doing a hybrid.
