Post by VG_Addict » Mon Jun 13, 2016 8:52 pm

Now it's Sony's turn. What awaits us?

I'm probably not going to cover everything, because I'm tired from being up till midnight because of a really bad storm last night.

Orchestra.

God of War. This is apparently a prequel.

Bend Studios presents Days Gone.

Last Guardian. Comes out October 25.

Detroit, Become Human.

Resident Evil 7 comes out January 24, 2017. It will be playable with VR.

Playstation VR comes out October. 50 games will be available.

Farpoint.

Star Wars Battlefront: VR Mission.

Batman Arkham VR.

I think God of War is a pseudo-reboot or sequel, because it's all Norse now. I say pseudo because Kratos is still in and he's still a Spartan, but who knows. Gameplay looked boring.

A decent amount of stuff looked interesting, and I'm glad they barely interrupted to talk. Would've liked to see Gravity Rush 2.

Someone must still be buying zombie games for us to get three of them between Sony and Microsoft. Never going to understand that craze.

What a boring E3. RE7 might be okay if it isn't what we all know it will be.

I dunno. There's a lot for me personally to be excited about with Sony.

It's been a pretty decent E3 imo. I've been enjoying a good number of the announcements so far.

Cool stuff this E3. Horizon: Zero Dawn looks especially cool, even if the name is kinda underwhelming.

^ That very much could be the one game from their show that I can't live without.

I'm totally excited from God of War again too.

GoW actually looked fun, which says a lot because it's previously been one of the series you literally couldn't give to me. Sony tried.

Yeah. I played GoW2 because I got it from Sony on the cheap, and it was fun, at least for the first hour. Then it just got too much of the same.

This isn't that. And that is exciting!

More complete thoughts now that I'm not on my phone:

GoW looks like it's actually doing things narratively now, and that sort of Norse theme immediately reminds me of a ton of games I really liked. If they can keep that tone, particularly by coming up with a more interesting motive than the obvious "KID DIES", it could be great.

Daysgone couldn't possibly interest me less.

I've always wished I enjoyed Team ICO's stuff more than I do, because they make some fascinating stuff. No idea if Last Guardian will change that, but I'll give it a shot for sure.

Detroit: Become Human does some things I enjoy, like branching options based on exploration, and some things I hate, like nonsense depictions of AI. There's also a huge penalty for being by Quantic Dream, so I probably won't both unless reviews are exceptional.

I'm thrilled to see RE returning to being a horror game. That thrill is entirely for other people, however, because I'm also perfectly aware that I don't make it through the intro of first person horror.

VR stuff is meh. The X-Wing stuff would've been amazing as a full game, but as one mission for Battlefront it's not something that'd sell be a $400 headset.

I also saw a trailer for Gravity Rush 2 that showed nothing we wouldn't have expected from it. Still hopeful it'll know what to fix from the first outing.

Detroit: Become Human seems like the kind of investigative, choice-based game I'm all about.

I still don't know what to think of RE7. I played the demo too... we'll just have to see.

Detroit: Become Human is a dumb name but I love Quantic Dreams' stuff. I think we already had confirmation of it a while back, though. Did we get a release date at least?

Yeah, I think Detroit: Become Human is a weird as anything name, but it looks interesting. Not my A-tier from this E3, but definitely B-tier.

The X-Wing VR thing is the only VR thing I've seen so far that I would care about.

VR is neat but I really hope they don't make things too gimmicky.
