Pokedex

Post by Scarecrow » Wed Apr 05, 2017 5:25 pm

How important is it to you to complete your Pokedex in the newest games? How did you accomplish it if you caught them all? Eggs and GTS? Or another method?

Not at all until Moon because getting 500+ is absurd. I did it in Moon through GTS.

The last game I owned was Pearl. I got every Pokémon except for those that would require me going out and interacting with people (Diamond-exclusives, trade evolutions, event Pokémon, Spiritomb), and then I gave up.

Depends on the game. Gen 1 I found it important. Gen 2 I did as well but it was harder so I never finished (I burned myself out trying to do the Unown Pokedex), and Gen 3 is where I pretty much knew I'd never finish one again.

I helped my little brother complete the trading-card "Pokedex" for gen 1 & most of gen 2 (missing just the 2 promo-only Unowns).

And remember, "I'm-a Charizard, number, well, six."

Nah son. I'm not gonna catch a Pokémon if I don't want it, it'll just end up rotting in a box somewhere. I usually only catch mayyybe 20-50 Pokémon in a game, depending on the gen and how much I love the Pokémon in it. I WILL go out of my way to get a rare or difficult Pokémon if it's one I really want though (like Feebas)

I haven't completed a Pokedex in many games now. *shrugs* As long as I have an Alakazam army, it seems fine. :D

I have a Gen VI living Pokedex, and I plan to transfer it to Gen VII and complete it there. Haven't played Pokemon in a minute, though, so I haven't even started it yet.

I've never really cared about the Pokedex.

^instead of just registering each Pokemon and eventually ending up with the final evolutions of each, I have PC boxes that actually have each individual pokemon.

So instead of just having a Venusaur, I actually have a Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, AND Venusaur all actually in my PC boxes. Rinse and repeat for all 721 Gen VI pokemon.

I have seen some people go as ridiculously far as to have a live shiny Pokedex, too.

That's one of the reasons I'm happy about the QR feature of Sun and Moon. Don't need to actually own every shiny Pokemon just to get it registered in the Pokedex.
