It is free, isn't it?

It's free to play. Should be on iOS stores by the end of the day.

Looks promising so far! I will say it took me way too long to figure out how to actually catch Pokemon but once I got it... ehehehe

I got this and went out on a Pokemon adventure in my dad's town in the dead of night. That was pretty fun. Gonna try it out in Florida, too.

I plan on using Pokemon Go for my workout today.

It's on Android too.

Might not skip board game night so I can also go on an adventure.

my phone battery sucks so i'm avoiding temptation

Servers are shot. Niantic apparently heavily underestimated the launch traffic volume.

Caught a Poliwag this morning!

Now taking bets on whether the first PR disaster will be kids getting themselves hurt looking for Pokemon or the game accidentally dropping a major event on some guy's lawn.
It's a great idea, but both of those seem inevitable.

I LOST MY PHONE RIGHT BEFORE THE LAUNCH. WORST TIMING EVER. I FEEL LIKE THERE IS A HUGE PARTY EVERYONE IS GOING TO AND GETTING WASTED / INJURED AT AND I WASN'T EVEN INVITED TO SUFFER WITH THEM
It is free, isn't it?
Free to play but pay to win. Unless you're lucky enough to live in a location with a lot of Pokéstops, expect to pay for your Pokéballs!
I feel that just so much is lost with making it a mobile game. It's a nice idea - don't get me wrong. Unfortunately it's very poorly executed IMO. It becomes pay to win easily unless you're lucky enough to find a bunch of Pokéspots nearby (That you can check into and spin for free Pokéballs) Sure, if you're fortunate enough to be nearby them you can farm them... until the game decides you can't and you have to pay. It's obvious that they wanna target whales - whales sustain a lot of mobile games. :(
Not only that, but in the games, you start in a small town in your region, walk to large cities, walk through caves, climb mountains, go into volcanoes, cross small channels, and can catch all the Pokés out there. You can't in real life - because the time it takes to walk through a route in the game you get... in the same ecosystem as you were at home. Also, half those locations where you can find the Pokés? lol - no reception. (Seriously I was in Blackhawk, which is in the mountains, and I couldn't even get a single bar of reception!)
And for me.... I'm in a GPS deadzone. The brand new and freshly updated garmins spazz right in my driveway and depict us as living in the middle of a field. Even with the most recent updates they depict buildings that are almost forty years old as not existing and still list businesses that have long been gone... yet funny enough they include stuff that was just completed. (So I can somehow find a chinese place that literally just opened on my GPSes yet the nearby supermarket that is at least 50 years old doesnt' exist according to our GPSes)

Seems like this and Miitomo...and that PKMN TCG for iOS...uh, and probably everything else from Nintendo would be better on actual gaming devices. Too bad whales ruin things for people...

I disagree. I think it's pretty obvious in the way these games are designed that they were designed specifically for mobile users. So many people are actually using Pokemon GO that the servers keep crashing. It seems like this and Miitomo have been wildly successful.

Actually, I read Nintendo was disappointed with Miitomo. I also don't see how they wouldn't be just about as good a fit for 3DS.
